Shuncong Gu Wins Award at Loomis Chaffee

The 2012 Loomis Chaffee All School Awards Ceremony was held recently to honor more than 75 juniors and seniors, and one special freshman, for their academic, artistic, athletic, and community service efforts.

Held in the school's Olcott Center, the event was attended by the student body, faculty, staff and proud parents and families. "This is a wonderful occasion," stated Head of School Sheila Culbert. "This is the recognition of all the hard work that these students have undertaken in the past year."

Students receiving honors included:

Shuncong Gu a junior from Shanghai received the Junior Mathematics Award, and the Junior Science Award.

The Loomis Chaffee School, located in historic Windsor, Connecticut, is an internationally recognized college preparatory school for grades 9-12 that fosters critical thinking and a global perspective in talented students from around the state, the country and the world. Since 1914, the school has offered educational opportunities for boys and girls regardless of religious or political beliefs, national origin, or financial resources. Academically challenging, the school promotes active learning within a respectful and civil community. This year, Loomis Chaffee awarded $7.7 million in financial aid to 34 percent of the student body. The school's 680 students represent 35 countries and 28 U.S. states.
